Running a Scan
A security scan evaluates your connected cloud environment against hundreds of checks covering compute, storage, networking, identity, databases, and more. Amnify produces findings with severity ratings, remediation guidance, and compliance mappings.How to run a scan
- Navigate to Findings or Security Posture in the sidebar
- Click “New Scan”
- Select the cloud integration to scan
- The scan runs in the background
Scan lifecycle
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Created | The scan is queued and waiting to start |
| Running | Amnify is connecting to your cloud provider and evaluating checks |
| Completed | All findings are available to browse and act on |
| Failed | Something went wrong (e.g., expired credentials) — check the error message |
Scans that remain stuck for an extended period are automatically cleaned up by Amnify’s maintenance system.
What a scan evaluates
Each scan runs hundreds of security checks organized by service category:- Compute — VMs, containers, serverless functions
- Storage — Object storage, file shares, disk encryption
- Networking — VPCs, firewalls, load balancers, DNS
- Databases — Managed databases, encryption, access controls
- Identity & Access — IAM, RBAC, MFA, service accounts
- Security — Key management, secrets, threat detection
- Observability — Logging, monitoring, alerting configuration
- Governance — Policies, tags, cost management

After the scan
Once a scan completes, you can:- View your Security Posture dashboard for an overview
- Browse individual Findings with filtering and sorting
- Check Compliance status against industry frameworks
- Mute findings that are accepted risks
- Ask the AI assistant for help prioritizing remediation
- Export a PDF report for stakeholders
